The Concept and Function of Reason and Truth
The
importance and relevance of The Concept
and Function of Reason and Truth pertaining to the healing of the whole
being is what I would like to focus and talk about today, in the attempt to
give a broader understanding of how significant these issues are.
Reason is the very beginning of something -
independently of being conscientiously thought or intuitively born. There is a
reason for everything, there is a reason behind anything be it a mere thought
or an action, it is the birth of something.
The concept for the reason comes from the
belief which in turn defines the truth.
Reasoning may
be defined as a mental process of looking and analyzing reasons through logical
lenses, taking into consideration beliefs, feelings and making conclusions - usually
with personal judgments.
Immanuel
Kant, the German Philosopher defined reasoning as “the capacity of a rational
being to act according to principles (i.e., according to the conception of
laws)”; which in practical terms can be interpreted as the process of thinking
about something in a logical way in order to form a conclusion or judgment,
ruled by personal beliefs and laws.
Personal
beliefs are in my opinion the game changer in concept and function of reason and truth.
In “A Course in Miracles” books by Helen
Schucman and William Thetford, Professors of Medical Phycology at Columbia
University first published in 1976 by the Foundation for Inner Peace, the
reason of truth is touched and elaborated in a precise manner. I’ve extracted two
paragraphs to help illustrate how we view, interpret and how we become aware.
“Perception selects, and makes the world you see. It literally picks it
out as the mind directs. The laws of size and shape and brightness would hold, perhaps,
if other things were equal. They are not equal. For what you look for you are
far more likely to discover than you would prefer to overlook.
Reality needs no cooperation from you to be itself. But your awareness
of it needs your help, because it is your choice.”
Reason, concept and truth are always born from our unique choices independently of laws,
social responsibilities, status or opinions, and it is very important to
understand them in order to move forward and make the best choices in a more
conscious and awakened way of life.
Reason, concept and truth define who we are as unique human
beings and have interferences and consequences in our relationships and dealing
with society in general.
In a
healing perspective, especially when dealing with certain issues from the past,
we must realize it is even more important to understand our concepts and how
they function within our reasons and our truth.
It is
extremely useful, if not even essential, to go within and find the reason behind
it and work it, as the base element to the healing process. One cannot heal
from any issue, problem or trauma by avoiding, neglecting, escaping or evading
the root cause – the reason; once the reason is found, observe it, talk to it
as well as all involved in that experience and make peace with it, forgive and
put the issue inside your imaginary drawer of resolved issues and experiences. The
Concept and Function of Reason and Truth can be a personal guide with a
compass to help resolve the past as well as understand the reason behind the
path into the future you choose with a better personally defined and refined awareness.

and Light!
