The Meaning of Love, Compassion and Faith
"Love means never having to say you're
sorry" was a memorable line said by the actress Ali MacGraw in the movie
“Love Story” in 1970. This line has been repeated in several contexts,
sometimes, not the most appropriate ones, but meanings and perceptions are
sometimes different. What does this have to do with The Meaning of Love, Compassion and Faith? Well, read along and find out!
I remember seeing the movie in 1970 and
confess that at that time I did not understand the real meaning and strength of
the phrase.
"Love means never having to say you're
sorry" is a phrase based on a line from the Erich Segal novel “Love Story”
and was popularized by its 1970 film adaptation starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan
O'Neal, but this line can be so much more intense, when we understand love in a
broad sense and align it with compassion and faith. When we do this, we see
love through a different perspective.
The meaning of love, compassion and faith
and how the three interact is much more than simple definitions, catchphrases
or hashtags.
Love is often confused with romance,
passion or affection and is majorly thought to be a feeling or an emotion. Some
say - love is the most powerful emotion
a human being can experience, others say - love is an emotion in action.
Too many use the word indiscriminately,
some even make it vulgar when in reality love is none of that.
I say:
Love is a state of being
Love is a way of life
Love is a pleasurable life
Love is a full appreciation of life and all
its beings
Love is utmost and the absolute way of
living
Love
is the law of life
Faith is trust, it is conviction; faith is
true knowing.
Compassion is comprehending, understanding
without paternalism or judgment.
Your work is not to drag the world kicking
and screaming into awareness.
Your job is to simply do your work
sacredly, secretly and silently…
And those with eyes to see and ears to hear
will respond.
