How Does Reiki Really Work

I have written about this in this article with the title Energy Healing and Believing Without Seeing which you may reread and refresh your memory, but today I would like to go a little deeper about how it works, not as what it takes to learn Reiki or how to apply it as a therapist, but how it works or not, on the individual person.

Let’s just quickly review that life energy force is flowing through us as long as we are alive.  Life energy force flows within the physical body through pathways called energy centers or chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura that looks like a colored bubble of energy around the body.  Energy life force nourishes the whole body through its organs and cells, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force goes through all the energy centers without interruptions  or prolonged instabilities, the person is balanced and healthy; when the flow is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more energy centers (chakras) and in turn in the organs and tissues of the physical body and with time the person becomes ill with (dis)ease – the so called out of ease state.

Not all healers use the Reiki method but all use the same life force, otherwise known as Ki or Chi. Reiki is just a kind of life force that can only be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it by a Reiki Master; the new Master may after this attunement perform hands on therapy treatments as well as remotely.

The energy is channeled from the Source/the Universe/ God,  through the hands of the practitioner  with specific intent and purpose, or through the mind when done remotely - then transferred to the patient in each therapy session in order to unblock, clean, adjust and, or,  balance the energy in each energy center (chakra) as well as the auric field.

This can be and is a total success for many, but for others – the ones with a skeptic  mind, the ones  who are reluctant to embrace something not seen but can only be felt  - by truly believing with absolute faith  - in the practitioner as well in oneself, Reiki will not work.

While in theory and intention of the Reiki practitioner it all works out well – how it really works on the person receiving the therapy might be different and depending on the core mental and spiritual belief.

It is unfortunate that so many are still confused and ill-informed about Reiki and other alternative Energy healing  methods that manipulate life force energy for balance and good health, without the need of drugs or any fancy equipment.

Reiki is not a massage! Unfortunately, some people think Reiki is some sort of a massage and it´s being offered at hotels and hospitals as a means of relaxation! Well, it´s not even close! In a Reiki session the energy of the person, house, office, object, plant  or animal,  is manipulated for a specific intent - shift, clearing (cleaning), unblocking or healing - which includes the auric field or even the whole magnetic field without even touching the person; this is so powerful and unfortunate that more people are not using this more, and appropriately, as powerful tools available to them.

The power of the mind – the power of thought and belief is extremely important for both the Reiki practitioner as the person receiving the therapy and so when I ask - How Does Reiki Really Work (? ) I can only answer - by the truthful intent and belief of the person requesting/receiving the therapy – so in one sentence – true power of the mind  of the receiver.
